Sundar Pichai-1-1024x630Buffett announced that he planned to give over 80 per cent of his fortune to charitable causes. He increased that amount to 99.9 percent in 2020. The principal beneficiary was the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, founded by Microsoft founder Bill Gates and his then wife Melinda, which was primarily dealt with issues of global education and health; Bill and Buffett were in close bond since the 1990s. Other organisations that received donations were the ones run by Buffett's children as well as the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation named after his late wife. The foundation was focused on women's reproductive health and was able to provide college scholarships. In the year 2010 Buffett and the Gateses have created the Giving Pledge, an invitation for wealthy individuals to give the majority of their fortunes to charities.
